Welcome to Jim Redmond's Railroad Picture Archives!

Front Page Pic Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of Jim Redmond.

Welcome Cartier Railfans.

Cartier Railway is owned and operated by the Quebec Cartier Mining Co. It is 260 miles long from Port Cartier, on the northern coast of the Gulf of the St. Lawrence River, to Fermont, up north in the semi-tundra, close to Labrador City. Not connected to any other railway of the North American network, it is used mainly to haul iron ore from the Mont Wright and Fire Lake mines.

I've been an engineer on it for more than thirty years, started a web site seven years ago and kept it well stocked with photos taken on every trip. For security reasons, we are now forbidden to have a camera on the job and I was asked to delete much of my show.

I thought it might be a good idea to store some of my pictures here on this "archive" web site. Hope you think so too.

I've started with a few "historical" shots, taken with my first digital camera, a ONE megapixal Kodak.

Enjoy,

Jim Redmond   Port Cartier, Quebec
